What Is A Lifestyle?

Lifestyle is the general attitudes, interests, behaviors, and social orientations of a human being, family, group or society. The word was first introduced by Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler in his 1928 book, The Case of Miss R. The general aspect of this concept is that the way we think, feel, behave, and lead our lives reflects a fundamental aspect of our personality. According to some experts, there are seven general aspects of human behavior that include: instinct, experience, environment, learning, personality, cognition, and motivation. This is also known as the “Freudian Oedipal Complex.”

What is a healthy lifestyle? The definition of a healthy lifestyle is a balanced life which is capable of enduring both short-term and long-term changes. A balanced lifestyle is considered to be one in which the psychological, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual needs of the individual are fulfilled to the best of the individual’s ability. In other words, a healthy lifestyle is equivalent to having a complete well-balanced life.

With regards to the question of what is a Lifestyle, one might also want to define it as a way of living a life that is culturally typical, independent of personal roles and responsibilities. It is also the set of values, thoughts, beliefs, and behavioral patterns that a person associates with the group that he or she belongs to. For instance, according to some research, Adolph, a cultural sociology pioneer, would have considered a Lifestyle to be the norm that most humans live by, if one defines the word as “life-style”.
